Privacy policy
What we collect when you use Snapparty, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Last updated 21 October 2026
Draft: the operator's legal name and address haven't been added yet (settings legal_name and legal_address). Please don't rely on this page until they are.
1. If you create an event (hosts)
To give you an account and run your event we collect:
- your name, email address, phone number and postal address, plus your venue name and address if you add them;
- your password, stored only as a secure one-way hash;
- the events you create: name, occasion, date, welcome message and settings;
- your orders: what you bought, the amount and the PayPal order reference. Payments are handled by PayPal; we never see or store your card number;
- if you order printed cards, the delivery address you give us.
We use this to provide the service you've paid for, to contact you about your account and events, and to keep records of payments. The legal basis is the contract between us, and our legal obligation to keep financial records.
2. If you upload to an event (guests)
When you upload to an event we store:
- the photos and videos you choose, as files, plus a smaller preview of each photo. Files can contain information added by your phone, such as the date taken;
- your name and message, if you choose to add them;
- your IP address and the type of browser you used, which help us prevent abuse;
- a random code saved in a cookie on your device, so we can show you the photos you've shared.
Your uploads go to the gallery of the event's host, who decides what to keep and who can see it. By default only the host sees everyone's uploads; other guests see only their own unless the host unlocks the full gallery for them. Galleries are never public and event pages are kept out of search engines. We don't use your photos for anything else, and we don't sell them.
If you want a photo removed, the quickest way is to ask the host, who can delete it straight away. You can also contact us.
3. Contact form, analytics and security
- Contact form: we receive your name, email address and message by email so we can reply.
- Analytics: only if you allow it in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful. You can change your choice at any time from "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. See our cookie page.
- Security: we keep short-lived records based on IP address to limit repeated attempts (for example, at login), and our servers keep standard logs.
- Fonts: our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers.
The legal basis for security and abuse prevention is our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe; for analytics it's your consent.
4. Who we share information with
We only share what each provider needs to do its job:
- PayPal, to take payments;
- our web hosting and network providers (including Cloudflare), which store and deliver the site and its files;
- our email provider, to send account emails and receive contact form messages;
- Google, for analytics if you allow it, and for fonts.
We'll also share information if the law requires it.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account details while your account is open, and payment records for as long as the law requires. Event photos and videos are kept so the host can access them; hosts can delete any of them at any time, and you can ask us to delete an event or account by emailing hello@snapparty.online. Password reset and email confirmation links expire automatically.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to limit or stop using it, or ask for it in a portable format. Email hello@snapparty.online and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, but please contact us first so we can try to help.
